The top 10 world wine producers are (in 2005):

1  France
2  Italy
3  Spain
4  United States of America
5  Argentina
6  China
7  Australia
8  South Africa
9  Germany
10 Chile

In 2009, the worldwide wine production was around 270 millions hectoliters (a little bit more than 20 billion bottles).

The total wine production in France was 46 million hectoliters (about 3.5 billion bottles).

In 2004 the total wine production in France was 49 million hectoliters, roughly 4 billion bottles of wine.

  •  35.7 million red wine (including rosé)
  •  13.3 million white wine

1 hectoliter = 100 liters = 26.42 US gallons
