Would you tell me about 2007 Beaujolais Nouveau ?

Question submitted by Sandy

Beaujolais Nouveau is celebrated on the third thursday of November and even more on Friday, this year on the 15th and 16th of November.

More than one third of the Beaujolais production is a Beaujolais Nouveau wine.

Nouveau stands for New. And therefore a Beaujolais Nouveau is a wine that has been made the same year it is marketed.

Beaujolais is a light wine and should be drunk within 6 months after the third Thursday of November. It should be served chilled.

The color of the 2007 Beaujolais Nouveau is a little bit lighter than usual. Traditionally Beaujolais has a deep purple robe.

Nose is fruity as usual.

Taste is smooth with aromas of cherry and plum. As usual, almost no tannins displayed.

Beaujolais Nouveau 2007 is somehow a traditional Beaujolais, as always an easy to drink wine. The key thing is to take it as it is, without expectation, and to enjoy it as a party wine.
