I
used to buy an imported French (sweet) white
wine named "Cadillac", is it still available?
Cadillac
sweet wines are still available but indeed they are
pretty hard to find.
Only
50 wineries produce Cadillac wine.
Cadillac
is an appellation (wine grade) South-East of Bordeaux
close to Barsac and Sauternes.
Most
of Cadillac are sweet white wine, but red and dry
white wine are also available under the Bordeaux
Superieur appellation.
You
can try to find a Cadillac wine through one of the
established wineries in the appellation : Chateau
Carsin, Chateau Cayla, Chateau Fayau, Chateau du
Juge...or through a village's name : Cadillac, Langoiran,
Gabarnac, Rions...
Cadillac
gave its name to the famous american car ! Detroit
city was founded by Sir Lamothe-Cadillac, a local
landlord.
